Dominic Wong

Dominic has been involved in the local music scene since his school days. He started out playing acoustic cover sets but now takes an even greater pleasure in performing his self-penned songs, which can be described as a unique blend of folk and pop.

Dominic only started writing his own songs in 2007 and his most heartfelt song “342” clinched a position as one of the top four original songs in a song-writing competition the same year.

Having sung at various high-profile events, as well as numerous stints at Takamatsu City’s most prolific ‘livehouse’ Beatles in Japan, Dominic aroused the interest of Japanese composer and arranger, Daichi Mizobuchi, who worked with him on his very first 2-track Demo-CD, “Everyday From Today”. Mr Mizobuchi is most well known for composing two of Japanese-Taiwanese pop singer Hitotoyo’s hit singles, including ‘Morainaki (もらい泣き)’.

Apart from music, Dominic has also been involved in English and Chinese Theatre since his days in High School. He loves to travel and has a great affinity with Southeast Asian history and culture, which has led him to explore the different traditional forms of music and dance of the region. Dominic recently returned from a short stint in Japan, where he has been deeply inspired by the people and the culture.

Your Interests?
Almost anything that’s interesting BUT if I had to choose one thing specifically, I think it’d be travelling. I don’t intend to die before I see most of the world so I spend hours on the internet reading up on different countries, cultures and of course, their music!
The craziest thing you have ever done?
Travelling to Cambodia with no idea about what I was going to do there or how safe I was going to be. The crazier thing was that everyone thought I was on a guided tour, safety guaranteed!
