A classical singer by training, Kiat sings mainly
songs from Lieder (Schubert, Wolf, and Strauss),
Oratorio (Bach, Handel) and Opera (Mozart). His
repertoire includes mostly pieces from German composers.
Aside from classical music, Kiat is capable of singing
in other genres which also include pop and jazz.
After graduating from LaSalle International, Kiat
decided to pursue his passion in classical music
and studied with a local vocal coach before auditioning
for Moscow Conservatory in Moscow, Russia in 2003.
Kiat then spent a year in Moscow before moving over
to Berlin in 2004 to train and continue to receive
training from Grammy Award winner, Wagnerian tenor,
Reiner Goldberg, a member of the Berlin State Opera
and professor at the Berlin School of Music.
Another discovery by Singapore’s very own singer-songwriter
Dick Lee, Kiat decided to return home to establish
his career in singing.
A self-proclaimed music lover who loves Bach, Beck
and Brad Mehldau and concert goer who lists watching
movies and doing sports as his hobbies, the multi-linguist
also hopes to make an impression as a host and television
actor.
