It was early in life when Yingzhi started learning the piano that she discovered her love for music. Her passion for music has led her to be actively involved in the Choir in both high school and college, and has also seen her appointed the college’s choir conductor.

In her final year at university, Yingzhi took a leap forward in her music career and started composing her own songs, drawing inspirations and influences from world-renowned artistes with the likes of Ah-Mei, Faith Yang, Shin (Band), Celine Dion, Anna Nalick and Rachael Yamagata. Yingzhi has since been showcasing her own compositions by taking part various singing competitions and has also performed to a wide range of audiences.

In 2007, Yingzhi was short listed as one of the Finalists for NTU Impresario 2007 Vocals Solo Category, an annual island-wide competition with overwhelming responses among local youths. In the following year, Ying was also selected as a finalist for Songs-I-Write Competition and NTU 14th Music Express Songwriting Competition.

In addition to that, she was also chosen by Ocean Butterfly to be one of their very exclusive student performing artistes. Only recently, Yingzhi was invited to join Azure, the resident band of Ark Café, Singapore’s popular Chinese Live Singing café, as the Female Vocalist & Keyboardist.
